Brno - The Brno city council today approved the tender for the position of the director of the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno. Applications can be submitted until the end of May, as stated on the city’s website. Until the end of last year, the chief architect was Michal Sedláček, who held this position for more than six years. Since his departure, architect Jan Tesárek has been appointed to lead the office.
"The collection of applications will last until the end of May. Subsequently, it will be appropriate for a committee to evaluate the candidates. I cannot say when a decision will be made," said Filip Poňuchálek, spokesperson for the Brno municipality.
According to the tender, applicants must have, in addition to a master’s degree, an understanding of the legal regulations related to spatial planning or building law, experience in a leadership position, and active knowledge of a foreign language. Experience with strategic and community planning or familiarity with trends in urban planning is an advantage.
The Office of the Chief Architect previously existed in Brno but was dissolved in 2003 when the city was governed by a coalition led by ODS. The office was re-established when the municipality was led by a coalition headed by the ANO movement. The initiative for its establishment came from the Greens. It now has around 60 employees. After his departure from the position, Sedláček began working as the head of the project preparation center for the South Quarter project.
