Brno - The tallest residential and commercial building in the city was opened today in Brno. The more than fifty-four meter tall complex Eden contains 114 apartments, 12 shops, and eight offices. The top two floors feature a large open-plan apartment with its own pool, with access to additional luxury apartments directly from private elevators. The building also includes so-called starter apartments, although all units are already occupied. Jiří Maršálek, managing director of Properity, the investment company, said this today to ČTK.
The sixteen-story building on Purkyňová Street has already become the site of the largest outpatient urology clinic in the Czech Republic, and on the ground floor, there is also a dental office and a bank branch. "Construction of the second phase has also started, which will create an additional seven-story wing of the complex. In total, Eden will offer 160 apartments, 20 shops, and 12 offices. The costs for both phases are around half a billion crowns," Maršálek said. The left wing is expected to be completed in September next year.
Eden is also the tallest building in Brno built after 1989. Until now, this title belonged to the fifty-three meter tall M Palace. The absolute tallest building remains the 74-meter high building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology.
Several high-rise buildings are currently under construction or in preparation in Brno. The AZ Tower aims to take the lead as it will be approximately ten meters taller, and an 80-meter tall building is also expected to rise in the Spielberk Office Center area next year. Several other tower buildings are planned around this administrative complex. Some are being discussed in connection with the new train station, and additional high-rise buildings will be located near the nearby Vaňkovka.
