Brno - Brno can buy shares in the company CD Centrum Coms, on whose land between Koliště and Benešova streets it plans to build the central office building of the municipality for 1.5 billion crowns. This was approved today by the councilors. The company owns not only the land but also the project documentation for the construction of the building. They wanted to build offices there, but they abandoned the plan. The city can acquire the land and documentation for 170 million, which is included in the total costs for the new town hall. In the new central building of the municipality, all 1,100 employees could work, as they are currently spread across about ten different locations. This would save the city money and people time.

The city would acquire the land and project documentation with issued zoning decisions and building permits with the shares. For the proposal of the property participation in the company, 31 councilors were in favor, two were against, and ten abstained.

The mayor's assistant Richard Mrázek (ANO) stated that the city must either invest in the existing buildings or build a new one. "The efficiency of converting existing buildings and constructing a new one results in the same investment. However, the central facility is more favorable from an energy perspective," said the mayor of Brno, Petr Vokřál (ANO). According to him, the central building with all departments would save people time, so they wouldn't have to go to multiple locations, and it could also provide a more pleasant environment for employees.

Officials are currently located in Kounicova Street, Husova, Šumavská, Kolišti, and Dominikánské náměstí. According to Vokřál, other institutions have also shown interest in some municipality buildings. The city could earn back up to half of the costs for building a new building through the sale.

According to Mrázek, the central building could save tens of millions annually on energy costs. The complex of three interconnected buildings could have, for example, a heating and cooling system using heat pumps, photovoltaics on the roof, and so forth. There is also a plan for an underground parking lot with 500 spaces, which would provide parking for employees and citizens.
