Brno - The municipal company Starez-Sport Brno will start building a covered beach volleyball court at the Riviéra swimming pool next year, along with facilities that include changing rooms and a space for refreshments. The costs will amount to 50 million crowns, Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) said to reporters today. The work is expected to be completed in 2020. The courts will be the largest investment for the company next year, with a total budget of 71 million crowns planned for various projects. Other projects include acquiring a cryotherapy chamber at the Vodova hall and new lighting in the Rondo hall.

Starez-Sport manages the sports venues. The city council of Brno, which acts as the general meeting of the company, approved the proposed investment plan for next year today. "The planned investments will contribute to the development of Brno's sports facilities. Some will be noticeable to visitors at first glance, as they include the replacement of changing lockers and the new covered courts at Riviéra. However, important investments are also those that are not visible, such as investments in securing facilities or software," said Hladík.

At Riviéra, there will be new ticket offices to eliminate queues, as well as sun loungers. Visitors will notice these changes as early as next summer. The large investment of 50 million will begin only after the summer season, in the fall of next year. "Covered beach volleyball courts will be created. This will ensure that Riviéra operates year-round. In the summer, it will be a swimming pool, and in the winter, a beach," Hladík said.

In addition, two other facilities will be constructed. One will contain changing rooms and facilities for the newly created courts, while the other will serve refreshments.

Other investments will include new equipment for the wellness facility at the City Stadium in Lužánky, a cryotherapy chamber in the Vodova hall, lighting replacement in the Rondo hall, and other items.
