Brno – From today, people can see two 3D models of the planned multifunctional hall at the Vaňkovka Gallery in Brno, accompanied by several information panels. The models allow for a detailed view of the hall, including the interior and the placement of the building in space, stated Radka Loukotová from the city's press department in a press release. The hall, estimated to cost up to four billion, will be built at the exhibition grounds and will provide facilities for the hockey team Kometa, among others. Cultural and social events will also take place there. The venue will offer a capacity of 13,300 spectators.
People can view the models and panels until April 12. "From the workshop of Archimage came one model of the multifunctional hall in all its details and a second one where the hall is shown situated in the area. This will provide people passing through the Vaňkovka Gallery with a concrete idea of the planned project," said the Mayor of Brno, Markéta Vaňková.
According to her, thanks to the use of a so-called resin 3D printer, it was possible to take advantage of high-resolution printing to the hundredth of a millimeter. "Details such as the grilles of the air conditioning covers, a system of slats around the roof structure, lift poles, or figures and cars are not missing. The construction of the models is created floor by floor, including columns and partitions," Vaňková said.
The creation of the models took 3.5 months. "In total, 12 kilograms of material and nearly four kilometers of filament, which are plastic strings for 3D printers, were consumed. 900 parts were created, from which the two models were assembled. The hall with all details, including the audience area and stands on each floor, is processed at a scale of 1:200, and the model situating the hall in the area is at a scale of 1:300," described Petr Kratochvíl (ODS), a councilor of Brno and chairman of the board of Arena Brno.
The city has also announced a concession procedure for the operator of the hall. Two bidders applied, but only one submitted an offer, and the city negotiated the conditions with them. The city has so far received a promise of one billion crowns from the National Development Bank for financing, another 200 million from the region, and wants to obtain 300 million from the National Sports Agency, which has already announced that Brno has succeeded with the project, but the amount of the subsidy will be determined only after the contractor is selected. The city is also negotiating for additional funds with banks.
