Čáslav (Kutnohorsko) - Čáslav in Kutnohorsko wants to open a new ice rink for skating enthusiasts in December. Last year, an outdoor rink was created in the first phase, which was in operation for three months. After the roofing, which is currently underway, skaters and the hockey club will be able to use the ice surface for a longer period. The city has already invested over 90 million crowns in the construction, said mayor Jaromír Strnad (ČSSD).

"Last year, we constructed the first phase, which was an outdoor rink. In the autumn, we completed the project and started the competition, we selected a company for the roofing and cladding. Currently, the steel structure is finished and the rough construction of the facilities is nearing completion, which means changing rooms, a sharpening room, a buffet, a gym, and facilities for the hockey club,"
said Strnad. The rough construction is expected to be completed by the end of August, after which internal installations, plastering, and the external facade will follow. "We expect operations to commence at the stadium on December 4," the mayor said.

The work on the first phase cost 36 million crowns, and this year the city will invest 55 million crowns in the stadium. However, some other costs, such as purchasing a snow groomer and equipping the changing rooms, still need to be added to this.

The new stadium next to the municipal baths in Vodrants aims to expand the range of sporting activities in Čáslav, which includes an athletics stadium, tennis courts, a football stadium, and a covered pool at the municipal baths. Strnad was surprised by the interest in skating on the new outdoor rink last winter, which, according to him, nearly paid for its operation. "There was only a small loss, but that was money we had to spend on renting a snow groomer since we didn't have our own, and on renting fencing," the mayor added.
