Čáslav (Kutnohorsko) - Čáslav in the Kutnohorsko region is building an ice rink next to the city baths in Vodranty. According to project documentation, the total costs are around 100 million crowns. This year, the first phase costing 36 million will be completed, which includes the construction of the rink, foundation structures, and installation of cooling equipment, said Mayor Jaromír Strnad (ČSSD) to ČTK.

Construction work, which will serve the public as well as the ice hockey club, started in May. The rink is to be functional even without a roof, and the first skaters are expected to use it this winter. "In November, the first phase should be approved and we will be able to operate the currently uncovered ice surface for three months, as we won't be able to cover it this year," Strnad stated.
The ice surface is meant to expand the range of sports activities in Čáslav, which includes an athletics stadium, tennis courts, a football stadium, and a covered swimming pool in the city baths. "Of course, we are now working on the project documentation for the second phase, which will address the roofing and equipment. We want to continue from March so that it is completed by the end of next year," the mayor added.
A new ice rink was recently opened, for example, in Poděbrady in the Nymburk region. It cost over 40 million crowns. It was built near a multipurpose sports hall on the site of an old stadium, which was in a state of disrepair and had to be demolished.
