Chrudim - Chrudim is preparing the reconstruction of the funeral hall on Škroupova Street. The costly project will be entrusted to the city company Technické služby Chrudim 2000. The city has selected a company that will process the project documentation for approximately one million crowns excluding VAT. It will be completed this year, Mayor František Pilný (ANO) told reporters today.
During the reconstruction, the designers will base their work on an already completed technical study. It proposes, for example, to adjust the space for relatives and social facilities. "In other respects, it is a simple restoration of what the author once designed, albeit with new materials," Pilný stated. According to him, the most difficult part was obtaining consent for the modifications from the now ninety-two-year-old architect Jan Třeštík, who holds the copyright to the building. The city estimates the costs for the reconstruction to be 15 million crowns, and the technical services are likely to cover it from a loan. In addition, outdoor modifications to the building should also be carried out.
In the future, the tenants of the funeral hall will change as well. Currently, it is rented by one funeral service, but after the renovations, the technical services will rent it out on individual days or ceremonies to more funeral homes. "We expect that each funeral service will have the right to organize a farewell to the deceased in the Chrudim funeral hall if the family wishes it," Pilný said.
The funeral hall dates back to the mid-1980s and no longer meets today's needs. Chrudim considered its extensive reconstruction more than ten years ago. However, due to high costs and the inability to secure a grant for it, the plans were postponed.
