Vyškov – The developer company Kaláb wants to build seven apartment buildings with nearly 300 apartments between the Vyškov aquapark and the city center. Construction work could start as early as this year. More than 700 people should find a home in the new apartments, the company stated in a press release.

The apartment buildings will be built at the site of the former Chrištof laundry, which ceased operations in Vyškov in 2013 and relocated to Brno. The site then fell into disrepair, and the development company purchased it in 2018.

"We plan to build seven apartment buildings with a total of 299 apartments. We would like to start building the first phase this year, but it is uncertain whether anything will delay us during the zoning and construction permitting process," said Tomáš Kaláb on behalf of the company. He added that the first tenants could move into the new apartments in 2023.

The leadership of the twenty-thousand-strong city welcomes the construction of new apartments. "Vyškov has an excellent location with access to the D1 highway. There are dozens of companies in the city offering job opportunities, the city has long maintained excellent employment figures, and the demand for housing is high. Therefore, we welcome any project accounting for the construction of new apartments or family houses," said Vyškov Mayor Karel Jurka (ODS).

The mayor indicated that there are only minimal problems with dilapidated plots in the city. "We still perceive the issue of a deteriorating enclosed area that once operated as a tractor station. However, it does not belong to the city; the private lot is designated for construction in the zoning plan," Jurka added.

Hundreds of apartments are also set to be added in Blansko in the coming years, as the city has a similar population and, like Vyškov, is well connected to Brno. This primarily concerns the Písečná housing estate, which is expected to expand significantly. Blansko Mayor Jiří Crha (ODS) stated this week that the city could have 800 to 1,000 new apartments within the next ten years.
