Ostrava - Hundreds of people who came to see the creation of an imaginary light pyramid over the center of Ostrava left disappointed. The pyramid did not appear in the sky after the fireworks. The organizers, a group of architects, claim that it failed due to bad weather conditions and strong street lighting. According to them, the virtual light model of the largest Egyptian pyramid of Cheops was only visible from some locations in the Moravian-Silesian metropolis. The organizers wanted to create good conditions for the light effect with fireworks, which were supposed to ensure that the beams of light were visible in the smoke screen left behind. However, the wind blew it away. Therefore, hundreds of people in Masaryk Square did not see any of the promised light model of the pyramid. "When people stand in the square, unfortunately, they won't see anything. They need to be outside the center; from some places, the light pyramid is well visible," said one of the project organizers to ČTK. Ostrava residents therefore sought better vantage points. But, for example, even from the Ostrava town hall tower, the pyramid was not well visible. "We were really looking forward to it, but we are disappointed. I don't know what it was supposed to mean," noted some visitors. The group of architects decided to erect Cheops's pyramid above the center of Ostrava to visually demonstrate its size. The pyramid has a base with a side length of about 230 meters, which corresponds to the area of twenty football fields, and a height of just under 150 meters. They used four lamps with a power of 2000 watts for the lighting. Lights with this output illuminate, for example, football stadiums or ice hockey arenas.
