<p>The corrected priest's home in Stará Boleslav will begin to welcome seniors back.</p>

Brandýs nad Labem – Next week, seniors will begin to return to the Domov sv. Václava in Stará Boleslav, which has undergone extensive renovation. The renovation of the heritage-protected building, which serves as a senior home for priests and church workers, was initiated by the Archdiocesan Charity Prague in September two years ago. For the investment exceeding 110 million crowns, it received a subsidy of 80 million crowns from the National Recovery Plan, as well as from other grants and donations, said Jarmila Lomozová from the charity to ČTK.

The house, with a capacity of approximately 30 places, serves priests, parents of priests, religious sisters, people who have worked for the church, and others who wish to spend their later years in a spiritual environment. Most of the 25 rooms are single occupancy. "Seniors who temporarily lived in the charity facility in Prague-Třeboradice and in the theological seminary in Prague's Dejvice will bring not only personal belongings but also their own furniture to Stará Boleslav. The furniture they are accustomed to and associate with the feeling of home. Therefore, the charity is not purchasing new furnishings for the rooms en masse," said Lomozová. New communal spaces are available on each floor. The renovation also included, among other things, insulation of the building, replacement of windows and utilities, and the construction of a new barrier-free main entrance.

In the garden of the home, a new kitchen will also be created by extending the annex; the charity is currently selecting a construction company, and catering will temporarily be provided by an external supplier. There are also plans for a more extensive transformation of the garden, with the addition of barrier-free walkways, a gazebo, and the renewal of the orchard.

The 17th-century building underwent its last renovation more than 50 years ago. The Archdiocesan Charity Prague took over the operation of the Domov sv. Václava in 2020.
