Česká Třebová

Česká Třebová – The town of Česká Třebová in the Orlickoústecko region is completing the project documentation for the renewal of the New Square. The town hall wants to transform the outdated space from the 1960s, which no longer meets today’s needs. The revitalization will bring changes to traffic and parking, as well as a transformation of the park. Zdeněk Řehák, the mayor (3PK – For Prosperous ČT), told ČTK.

“The project documentation is practically finished and should be completed by the end of the summer. The designer will present the final version to us, but we are very close to its submission. Following that, we will apply for a building permit. We are already in the process of obtaining the necessary opinions and statements from the relevant authorities, so the preparation is proceeding according to plan,” said Řehák.

New Square was created in the 1960s, and the town is now planning to modify it to better serve both residents and visitors. The current space does not offer enough areas for leisure activities, lacks parking spaces, and the traffic arrangement is also inadequate. The town hall wants to address the outdated park areas, the network of paths, and the unsatisfactory water feature, which is in poor technical condition.

The town hall will maintain two-way traffic around the square but will change the organization of parking. In the upper part, perpendicular parking spaces will be created, and additional parking spots will be added. The town will also modify the entrance to the inner parking lot among the trees, which will now be accessed from only one side.

The revitalization will also include the renewal of park paths, taking into account the preservation of mature trees. The town hall will build a new recreational staircase and replace the old water feature. The fountain will be moved to another location, along with an adjustment of the path arrangement in the central part of the square.

“The project is based on a study that we presented to the public earlier. We do not yet know the exact costs; they will emerge from the just-completed project documentation,” said the mayor.
