Prague - The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) today signed contracts with construction companies Hochtief CZ, Metrostav, and Strabag for conducting geological surveys necessary for the construction of Metro Line D. The company also signed a contract with the business consortium GTM for Geological Monitoring and Documentation of Metro Line D. This was reported by DPP spokesperson Aneta Řehková. The geological survey will cost about 1.58 billion and will begin in June at four locations in Pankrác.
"Following the signing of contracts today, DPP also delivered calls for the contractors to take over the construction sites. We expect preparatory work, such as fencing, clearing vegetation, and bringing construction machinery to the individual locations, to start about a week before the geological survey scheduled for June 19, 2019," Řehková stated.
The start of the survey was approved last Monday by Prague city councilors, who also approved the construction of Metro Line D itself. The funding for the survey was agreed upon by councilors on Thursday after many hours of discussion.
Prague will spend 445 million crowns this year on surveying Line D. The largest amount will be spent next year, amounting to 765 million. In 2021, it will be 348 million, and in the following two years, it will be 14 and nine million respectively. This year, funds will only be used for conducting the survey. In 2020 and 2021, the city will pay for the survey and maintenance of tunnels, and in the last two years, it will only cover maintenance.
The leadership of Prague and DPP is still addressing the issue of missing land necessary for construction. Currently, they are negotiating with landowners in Krč, for example. An initial agreement regarding land near Nádraží Krč has already been signed with them. The city faces challenges regarding future stations Libuše, Písnice, and Depo Písnice, where it is likely to encounter more extensive land exchanges.
In the first phase, the line will run between Pankrác, Nové Dvory, and continue to Depo Písnice, where driverless trains will operate. The estimated costs are 57 billion crowns. In the future, a section from Pankrác to náměstí Míru is expected to be built. The investor for the construction will be DPP.
