Letohrad - Letohrad in the Orlickoústecko region is likely to begin the reconstruction of its cultural house within two years, which is nearly fifty years old. It is also considering the option of demolishing the current building and constructing a new one in its place. This was stated today by Mayor Petr Fiala (Association for Letohrad, SNK).

"We will probably hold an architectural competition to have firms provide us with two options on how the cultural house could be reconstructed, or possibly suggest new construction," Fiala said.

The city will need to invest tens of millions of crowns into the modernization or new construction. Currently, there are no available grant titles that the municipal office could utilize, so it must fund the cultural house from its own resources.

"Whether the path of reconstruction or new construction wins, it has to be a facility that will serve for decades again. In my opinion, it's not right to think that we could manage it for a few tens of millions; it will be around 100 million, possibly even more," Fiala said.

The city commissioned a survey, in which 40 percent of the respondents find the amount of 100 million crowns reasonable. People also prefer that balls, movie screenings, and the presence of a restaurant and café are held at the cultural house.

Fewer survey participants would place a library and a basic art school in the building. The majority of people would rather reconstruct the current structure. They consider the current location of the cultural house to be suitable. About one percent of respondents expressed support for demolition.
