Letohrad (Orlickoústecko) - From the medieval fortress in Letohrad in the Orlickoústecko region, a hotel complex will be created. It should offer 52 beds, a restaurant, and exhibition spaces. Petr Fiala, the mayor, told CTK that tourists wishing to stay in the foothills of the Orlické Mountains currently have very few options. "If a bus of tourists arrives, they cannot accommodate themselves in one place. The hotel in the castle has 20 places, another 20 to 30 in guesthouses, which is not much. There was to be a luxury hotel in the city center, but unfortunately, that fell through; this could be a quality replacement,” said Fiala. The fortress in the local part of Orlice was a medieval residence of the noblemen. In the 16th century, the owners reconstructed it into a Renaissance chateau, and a century later it became a granary. Entrepreneur Pavel Tacl does not want to discuss the project too much at this time; he wants to wait until he obtains all the necessary permits and everything is, so to speak, certain, he told CTK. The hotel with 52 beds is designed as a new building that will connect to the baroque barn with its roof. In the reconstructed chateau, the entrepreneur plans to have a lounge, a hall for social events, and a restaurant; the second floor should house an exhibition of typography and bookbinding. The Gothic cellar of the fortress will feature an exhibition of archaeological finds, while the Renaissance cellar will serve as a social room. A covered terrace will be situated next to the fortress. The complex will be complemented by minor structures - a gate, retaining wall, bastion, and carriage house. The entire area will include 35 parking spaces for passenger cars and two stands for buses.
