Čáslav – The Dusík Theatre in Čáslav, located in the Kutná Hora region, has reopened to the public after extensive renovation of its historic hall. The celebrations of the theatre's reopening began yesterday evening with the opening of "Má vlast" by painter Jakub Špaňhel, and a festive concert is also planned. A series of events will continue until March 22, featuring performances by the Cirk La Putyka troupe and the romantic comedy "On Golden Pond," presented by Simona Stašová and Ladislav Frej. There will also be a meeting with the architects and restorers involved in the renovation, said Lada Bartošová, the theatre director, to ČTK.

The general renovation of the theatre hall, which has a capacity of 385 seats, began last summer and lasted until February this year. The costs exceeded 12 million crowns. Craftsmen repaired the stuccos and floors, renovated the seats, and the stage technology is completely new.

The theatre, named after the Čáslav-born composer and pianist Jan Ladislav Dusík (1760 to 1812), is one of the oldest stone theatres in the Czech Republic. The construction began in June 1867, and the building was ceremoniously opened on February 28, 1869. Since then, it has undergone several structural modifications and reconstructions. The current renovation is the most extensive since 1924.
