Prague - The Eko-Center in Prague's Troja will not be built. The city leadership will swap the plot of land near the botanical garden with a private investor. The company wanted to build an observation tower with an eco-center on the plot. Deputy Mayor Petr Dolínek (ČSSD) told journalists this today. Local citizens and civic associations protested against the construction, and the Prague 8 city hall also disagrees with it. The investor of the eco-center is the company United Architect Studio.

"I met with the representatives of the investor, and we agreed that we will swap the plot for another parcel,"
said Dolínek. The plot neighboring the garden should thus continue to serve the residents of Prague 8 for recreation, according to Dolínek.

The city hall of Prague 8 issued a negative opinion against the construction. According to them, it would disrupt the integrity of the local green spaces. A demonstration against the construction was organized by local residents around mid-July. About a hundred people participated in the event.

The complex was supposed to include, in addition to the center with the observation tower, a clubhouse with a restaurant and a private parking area for visitors. According to the intent announcement included in the EIA system, which assesses the impact of the construction on the environment, the built-up area was to total over 2,300 square meters. The proposed clubhouse was to be two stories high and 7.7 meters tall. The eco-center with the observation tower was planned to be divided into nine floors and surpass 30 meters in height.
