Prague - The leadership of the Prague 8 municipality disagrees with the construction of an eco-center called Educational and Exploratory Activities - Troja between Na Pazderce road and the area of the Botanical Garden of the capital city of Prague. CTK was informed by spokeswoman Anna Patočková. According to the project, a nine-story eco-center with an observation tower is to be built. According to the councilors, the construction, planned by a private investor, would disrupt greenery and recreational opportunities, and more than a hundred trees would have to be felled.

"Our district does not agree with this project. It would disrupt the integrity of the local green areas that our residents use for their leisure activities. Moreover, there would be significant tree felling, which currently serves as an acoustic barrier. This would threaten an increase in noise in this area,"
said Mayor Roman Petrus.

In addition to the mentioned center with an observation tower, there will be a clubhouse with a restaurant and a non-public parking lot for visitors. "A disadvantage of the project is also that a large part of the planned activities can already be found in the botanical garden area," stated the spokeswoman. According to her, the observation tower itself is not necessary - the botanical garden built its own one in 2014 for three million crowns. Local citizens and civic associations are also protesting against the construction.

According to the notice of intent included in the EIA system, which assesses the impact of the construction on the environment, the built-up area is to total over 2,300 square meters. The proposed clubhouse is to be two stories high and 7.7 meters tall. The eco-center with the observation tower will be divided into nine floors and will be over 30 meters tall. The environmental impact assessment documentation was submitted by United Architect Studio.
