“The palace was built in 1845 on a lucrative plot of land in close proximity to the future Těšnov Station. During the festival, within the project Místa činu, we will primarily revive its preserved part with beautiful frescoes and stuccos and spacious rooms of palace character,” says curator Denisa Václavová. Three floors of the otherwise inaccessible Desfours Palace will host a large exhibition of contemporary art titled How to Want Nothing, featuring 60 Czech and foreign artists. The rich exhibition will include installations, objects, paintings, videos, and site-specific projects curated by leading figures in the Czech visual arts scene - Krištof Kintera, Denisa Václavová, Radek Wohlmuth, Mariana Serranová, David Böhm & Jiří Franta, and Tomáš Svoboda. The exhibition will be complemented by an extensive accompanying program of openings, performances, and symposia.
From the fields of architecture and urbanism, there will be, for example, a symposium Places Closer to the City on the topic of revitalizing abandoned urban buildings and areas with representatives from the cultural and creative industries, the launch of a collection of texts on architecture 2014 - 2015 prepared by the Kruh association, a screening of the film Places Between Places directed by Marek Matvije and Epos 257 about spaces in cities where improvised homes are created and disappear, intertwining nature and architecture, and on Saturday, October 10, a discussion The Forbidden Word Regulation moderated by Adam Gebrian, focused on development and its regulation. Guests will seek answers to questions such as: How should the public sector determine the conditions that also apply to the private sector? What is or should be the role of city representatives in relation to the built environment? Merely regulatory, guiding, or also proactive, thereby creating standards for others? How do they see their own role in these processes? A trio of architects and politicians will discuss: Prof. Miroslav Šik, who has long been active at ETH Zurich, Michal Kuzemenský from the studio re:architekti, head of the studio at FA ČVUT Jaroslav Zima, partner of the architectural office D3A, and Matěj Stropnický, Prague councilor for the Triple Coalition, member of the leadership of the Green Party, deputy mayor for urban development.

This year's 20th edition of the 4+4 Days in Motion festival will take place from October 2 to 10 at Desfours Palace, as well as at the Archa Theatre, Jatka78 space, and Ponec Theatre, where international performances that represent the most interesting contemporary European dance and theater scene will be presented. For the anniversary, the festival has also prepared a special ticket price for these performances - 200 CZK for a standard ticket, 100 CZK reduced for students and seniors.
