The castle received an invitation from Italy to Expo 2015

Prague - After two months since the invitation was sent, a message regarding the next World Expo 2015 in Milan has reached Prague Castle. The spokesperson for the presidential office, Radim Ochvat, told ČTK today that the invitation from Rome has been forwarded to the government office. Decisions about the Czech participation will be made based on these invitations by the ministers.
    At the beginning of March, the Castle still had not received the invitation, while a copy of the invitation letter from Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to President Václav Klaus was already circulating in diplomatic circles.
    The Czech Embassy in Italy stated that the letter addressed to Klaus was sent to the president's office and simultaneously to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the end of January. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs only had a copy of the invitation. The office responsible for world exhibitions falls under the ministry. This office reported that according to the Italian organizers, the invitation to Prague was sent at the beginning of January.
    Some countries have already responded to the invitation, and Italy is also interested in the Czech response, as some states have already accepted the offer to participate in the World Expo.
    Czechia was present at the most recent World Expo in Shanghai, China, last year. The government allocated half a billion crowns for this. The Czech pavilion received several awards and was among the most visited. The slogan of the next cultural Olympiad of nations in Italy is "Feed the Planet, Energy for Life." According to some information, some Czech companies and scientists are interested in the upcoming World Expo.
