Hradec Králové - The Královéhradecký region is unclear about who specifically requested the contribution of 21 million Czech crowns for the payment of an archaeological survey during the construction of the new regional headquarters in the former Hradec brewery. This emerged from the statements of the regional councilor for economics, Tomáš Šubert, at today's press conference. The regional councilors discussed the contribution last week and did not approve it.

The region has a leasing agreement for the headquarters with the company Immorent. The actual construction is being carried out by the company Skanska. However, on Monday, Immorent issued a statement that the region did not request any funds. Skanska also denied, according to today's Hradecký deník, that it had requested any funds.
Šubert first stated today that Skanska requested the funds. He subsequently mentioned that the region is not in a contractual relationship with Skanska. "Everything Skanska negotiates with us is for Immorent. They have full power of attorney for that. I considered it as Immorent," he said. He added that the contradictory statements from Immorent and Skanska are a mystery to him.
According to Šubert, he does not understand Immorent's statement. "This is new information for me that will need to be processed. Then the question is whether anyone is really asking for this money at all," he said. If the council approved the expenditure, the funds would go to Immorent, in his view. The explanatory report presented to the councilors does not indicate who requested the funds.
The money should be used to pay for two special concrete sarcophagi in which prehistoric clay ramparts and a medieval bastion are stored at the site of the discovery. However, the regional councilors did not approve the proposal for the contribution and postponed the voting. The opposition criticized the proposal for the contribution, arguing that archaeological matters should be paid for by the investor, namely the company Immorent, according to the law.
The new headquarters is being created by renovating the Hradec brewery and will cost 1.5 billion Czech crowns. The renovation began in the spring of the year before last and should be completed this summer. Officials are expected to move in during the autumn.
