Ráby - The restoration of the two-story wooden veranda of the former restaurant at Kunětická hora Castle, designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič, is nearing completion. Visitors will be able to view it at least partially during this year's season. Originally, the ground floor of the interwar building had seating for tourists and a ballroom on the upper floor; it will now serve as a refreshment area and ticket office, said caretaker Miloš Jiroušek to ČTK.

Work is also continuing on the sixth gate and the adjacent building of the former court room. "The deadline for the completion of the entire western wing project is this autumn; during the winter, the interiors, exhibitions, and displays will be developed, and it should be accessible at the beginning of the 2021 season," Jiroušek stated.

The National Heritage Institute received 61 million crowns from the Integrated Regional Operational Programme for the project to restore the western part of the castle complex named Kunětická hora by Dušan Jurkovič - the poet of wood. The total costs will reach nearly 79 million crowns.

Upon completion of the project, work will begin on the castle palace, which is the second phase of the reconstruction of the entire section of the castle complex.

In 1919, the castle ruins were purchased by the Pardubice Museum Society, which initiated the establishment of the Kunětice Association, which subsequently commenced repairs and security work. These were partly carried out according to the project of the notable architect Dušan Jurkovič, and architect Jan Pacl also collaborated on the project. It was based on this concept that the renowned restaurant with valuable interiors in the western wing was created.
