Jablonec nad Nisou

Jablonec nad Nisou - Jablonec City Council has selected three locations to attract investors. Construction is planned in Horní Proseč, at Dolina, and also in the city center. However, construction will not begin before 2009, as it will take at least a year to change the zoning plan, said Deputy Mayor Otakar Kypta to reporters today.

Horní Proseč and Dolina will be designated for residential development. Unlike the original zoning plan, there will also be five-story apartment buildings in addition to single-family homes. "The city lacks apartments, there is high purchasing power and no supply," Kypta noted, adding that real estate agents and real estate offices welcomed the city's decision.
The city has allocated approximately three hectares for new housing at Dolina, and over 4.2 hectares at Proseč. The area is also expected to include recreational sports facilities. A condition for construction is also the sewerage system for the area and connection to a central water source. The city wants to maintain control over the construction until its completion.
The city hall also wants to complete and revitalize the city center, specifically the gap between Generála Mrázka, Komenského, and Mírové náměstí streets with a total area of 2.2 hectares. Currently, there are residential buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a few newer structures, and a parking lot. Parking areas and greenery should remain there. "The solution must respect the city's heritage zone and surrounding landmarks - the post office building and the city theater," added spokesperson Jana Fričová.
The city will give investors about two months to prepare architectural proposals. They will evaluate them at the turn of January and February next year. The city hall is already aware of several serious interested parties in the land.
