Jeseník - Residents of Jeseník already know the new form of their future wellness center. Local councilors selected a project proposed by the company Centroprojekt Zlín from two variants. It includes a water slide, saunas, and Jacuzzis. The construction will cost around 220 million crowns, and the city hall is now preparing to apply for subsidies. In addition to the city, a private investor will also contribute to the project. The Jeseník wellness center, which has been talked about for several years, is expected to become a key building in the region. At the request of the city hall, two companies worked on the wellness center proposal. "Both proposals were similar in terms of attractions, but each had some flaws. Architecturally, and also from a marketing perspective, the councilors ultimately preferred the proposal from Centroprojekt. It includes Jacuzzis, saunas, a water slide, a lazy river, and a wave pool. The outdoor swimming pool will also be preserved," said mayor Marie Fomiczewová (ČSSD) to ČTK today. Jeseník residents became acquainted with the proposals for the new Regional Wellness Center Jeseník at the end of July, after which a professional committee recommended one of the variants to the councilors. The new center is expected to cost around 220 million crowns. The city anticipates successfully obtaining a subsidy of 80 million crowns. "A total of 50 million crowns is planned to be invested in the project by a private investor, with the remaining funds provided by the city. We will primarily obtain the money by selling city property," added the mayor. City representatives are now preparing a project with an application for a subsidy from the Regional Operational Program of Central Moravia. If they manage to secure the subsidy, the plan can move forward to obtain a building permit and then to construction. The new wellness center is expected to be completed in about two years. The issue of the wellness center has been addressed by the Jeseník city hall for several years. This plan appeared in the city’s planned investment projects as early as 2007. A specific form was taken when the existing city swimming pool no longer met hygiene standards for water quality and considerations began for its complete reconstruction. The project has been discussed several times not only by the councilors but has also become a central topic of public meetings. The city has already invested millions of crowns into the preparation. The original project valued at around 300 million crowns was ultimately halted by the councilors in mid-April. The main reason was the price of the aquapark. Opponents labeled the project as megalomaniacal and both investment and operationally costly. Instead, they approved that the city would embark on a completely new project valued at around 220 million crowns.
