Prague - The South City Hall would like to implement new tram lines into the prepared zoning plan. According to the city hall, the tracks could lead from Spořilov, Hostivař, and Písnice. Jan Kábrt, head of the urban development department of Prague 11, stated this to ČTK. The new zoning plan should also address the development of the Trojmezí area according to the city district.
"As a fundamental condition for maintaining the sustainable development of the city district, we demand a new solution for the accessibility of the area by supplementing the existing public transport system," Kábrt mentioned. According to the city hall, the current tram routes could be extended from Spořilov or Hostivař. The tram could then run on Ke Stáčírně street. The city district also sees another option from the direction of Písnice, where the tracks would run along Chilská street. The advantage of this option would be the connection to the planned metro line D.
The tram to Opatov, according to a recent press release from the Prague City Hall, should be operational in 2013. Within seven years, Prague trams are expected to operate on approximately 32.4 kilometers of new tracks according to the city's plans. Currently, only the track to Radlice is under construction, and it should be completed by the end of this year.
The city hall considers the so-called Trojmezí to be the most significant development area that extends into Prague 11, whose name indicates that it lies within Prague 10, 11, and 15. "The proposal for this change suggests establishing a significant urban park primarily focused on leisure activities for the residents of the surrounding housing estates," Kábrt explained. A new district should also be built in Trojmezí. However, it is a condition that transportation in this area must be resolved. Options for connecting a new road to the area are limited.
Práčská street is built up, and U Záběhlického zámku street does not have the capacity to accommodate another connecting road. The lack of roadways is precisely the reason why nothing has been built on the land for a long time. There is neither metro nor railway nearby; the only option is to bring tram tracks and vehicles to Botič. According to Kamil Kubiš, director of urban development in Prague 10, the tram can lead from Švehlova street, from Spořilov, or from both locations.
Public infrastructure and layout should also be addressed by the zoning plan in the vicinity of the Roztyly metro station, around Türková street, between Na Jelenách, Brněnská, and Roztylská streets, including the intersections.
According to the new building law, municipalities must prepare new zoning plans by 2012. However, the City Hall anticipates that the new zoning plan for the metropolis will be completed by 2010. Zoning plans determine how individual plots can be utilized.
