The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec elected Ing. arch. MgA. Osamu Okamura as the candidate for dean for the next term 2019–2023 on January 24, 2019. If he is appointed by the university rector, Osamu Okamura will take over the leadership of the faculty from Professor Zdeněk Fránek, who has been its dean since 2012.

The election took place by secret ballot of the AS FUA TUL on January 24, 2019, at 2:30 PM in the library. The electoral commission for the election of the dean of AS FUA TUL, consisting of: chairman Ing. arch. Petr Stolín, members Ing. arch. Dott. Ing. Petr Janoš and Markéta Červinková, stated the following number of votes for individual candidates:

Ing. arch. MgA. Osamu Okamura: 6 votes
Doc. M.A. Jan Stolín: 3 votes

Osamu Okamura (*1973 Tokyo) is a Czech-Japanese architect, former editor-in-chief of the architectural magazine ERA 21, younger brother of politician Tomio Okamura, and interpreter Hayato Okamura. He served as the program director of the international festival reSITE.
