Kladno - The Kladno railway station is not being demolished by the Czech Railways Administration yet, even though it already has a demolition order that has come into legal effect for the modernization of the track and related facilities. The Ministry of Culture is considering a proposal to designate the building as a monument and has commissioned various statements and opinions. This was communicated to ČTK by spokespersons from the Railways Administration, Nela Eberl Friebová, and from the Ministry of Culture, Ivana Awwadová. The station is set to be replaced by a new terminal that will be constructed according to current needs and will also be close to the planned underpass beneath the track. According to surveys, the station is in poor condition.

The proposal for monument status for the station was submitted by architect Václav Kruliš, who argues, among other things, about the cultural and historical values that the new building cannot replace. "Currently, we do not have all the documentation upon which a decision could be made about whether to initiate administrative proceedings to declare this building a cultural monument or not," Awwadová stated.

The Ministry of Culture's Department of Heritage Protection has requested, for instance, an opinion from the Heritage Protection Office of the Kladno City Hall, the Central Bohemia Regional Office, statements from the Advisory Commission for the Protection of the Heritage Fund in the field of railway transportation established at the National Heritage Institute, and others.

According to Eberl Friebová, the Railways Administration will wait for an official decision regarding the status of the building before considering any possible demolition.

This winter, a petition was created for the preservation of Kladno station or to announce an architectural competition for its new design. The petition was authored by opposition councilor Anna Gamanová (STAN). The city leadership, on the other hand, stated earlier that it is receiving more positive feedback on the planned modern building. The new terminal will offer more comfort and functionality, said Mayor Milan Volf (Choice for Kladno).

The station, referred to as Vejhybka, has been in operation since 1855. It is served by the Prague - Rakovník and Kladno - Kralupy nad Vltavou lines. It is easily accessible from the Kročehlavy district, located about two kilometers from the center of Kladno.
