Kladno – Near the Kladno main railway station, in the area between Wolkerova and Jutská streets, a new district could be developed. The city has commissioned a study on possible development. The land belongs to private owners, but the city can influence the scope and implementation of construction, including transportation connections, sidewalks, links to surrounding buildings, and infrastructure, said Kladno councilor Lukáš Hanes (ODS) to ČTK today.
The study is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and the city aims to negotiate with the landowners as well. In parallel, students from the Faculty of Architecture at Czech Technical University in Prague, from Jiří Klokočka's studio, are also exploring the use of these lands. "They will propose urban planning concepts for the development of this area with great potential. We are very much looking forward to their designs, inspiration, and energy," stated Kladno city councilor and development committee chair Anna Gamanová.
According to her, the planned modernization of the railway between Kladno and Prague may increase interest in building near the station. The track in Kladno is set to be modernized in four years, while the route to Prague's Ruzyně is expected to be completed in seven years.
The city has also prepared a study for the development of the area between Milady Horákové and Americká streets, which are also located near the main railway station. The surroundings of Štechova Street in the city center (near Kladno - city station) are also set for transformation, where Kladno intends to restore roads, sidewalks, parking lots, playgrounds, greenery, and more this year.
