Kolovraty have a new school: smart classrooms, two gymnasiums, and an atrium for children

In Kolovraty, on Friday, June 12, 2026, the ribbon for the new primary school on Měsíčková Street was ceremoniously cut. The modern building for more than 500 students will open this September and will provide facilities that have long been lacking in this part of Prague. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of the district Jonáš Zejfart, the Mayor of the City of Prague Bohuslav Svoboda, the Councilor for Education Antonín Klecanda, the Councilor for Finance Zdeněk Kovářík, the 1st Deputy Mayor Jaromír Beránek, the Business Director of the general contractor SYNER, Miroslav Kot, and other guests.
The new school offers several specialized classrooms alongside standard ones – from language classrooms with enhanced acoustic requirements, to science labs and workshops, or a cooking classroom with separate workstations and hoods. The classrooms are equipped with controlled ventilation featuring CO₂ sensors that automatically adjust the HVAC system to ensure a sufficient supply of fresh air. A modern and oversized catering operation will take care of the comfort of young diners. The building's roof is equipped with heat pumps, and it is also ready for photovoltaic installation.
The premises include two multifunctional gymnasiums, one of which will also serve the public. Thus, the school offers facilities not only for education but also for leisure activities for local residents. "This construction was a big task for our district. I greatly appreciate the constructive approach of all involved, the professionally coordinated team on the contractor's side, and the efforts of my colleagues at the office, who deserve great thanks for their dedication," said the Mayor of Kolovraty Jonáš Zejfart during the grand opening. The Mayor of the City of Prague Bohuslav Svoboda added: “Today's opening of the new school is not just the completion of a significant building, but primarily the beginning of a new story. From September, its corridors, classrooms, and playgrounds will belong to hundreds of children who will gain knowledge, friends, and memories for a lifetime here. I wish this school to be a place where it is good to learn, create, and grow, serving not just the students but the entire local community.”
Children can also utilize an outdoor atrium accessible from the school’s after-school club and a practical bike storage facility that has been built next to the building. Full accessibility is a given both in access and operation. “Our goal was to create a school that will stand the test of time, not only today but also in the future. We emphasized quality execution, modern technology, and long-term sustainability,” says Miroslav Kot, the Business Director of SYNER. The new school has already passed its first stress test when the school administration organized a garden celebration for the public on the same day, combined with a tour of the new building, which was also financially supported by the City of Prague. Thus, parents, children, and local residents glimpsed into the school for the first time before the start of classes in September.
