Kopřivnice (Novojičínsko) - People in Kopřivnice will no longer have to wander between several buildings when processing various confirmations. All departments of the municipal office and some other institutions can now be found under one roof in the building of the former management of the Tatra car factory. In the building, which the city bought from Tatra for 34 million crowns, in addition to municipal officials, there are also state and municipal police, the labor office, and next year the Czech Post will move in, said city hall spokesman Miroslav Přívětivý today to ČTK.

The renovation of the outdated nine-story building with 245 offices cost the city nearly 75 million crowns. The building has new windows, floors, electrical installations, water and sewage systems, a newly modified lobby, and individual offices.
The city hall officials occupy 56 percent of the office space, and besides other institutions, the modernized building will also serve several companies. The entire ninth floor with 25 offices will be available for additional interested parties after the completion of the final stage of renovation.
In the history of Kopřivnice, this is already the fifth seat of the city administration. Until 1848, the city was governed by the so-called fojt in the well-preserved building of the Fojtství, then until 1914, Kopřivnice was led by the so-called burmistrs from their homes, which became temporary seats for the municipal office and a meeting place for the representatives. After the creation of Czechoslovakia, the municipal office was set up in the premises of the boys' school, later moving to Záhumenní Street, and due to the expansion of the office, the individual departments gradually split into three buildings in the city.
