Krnov - The town of Krnov in the Bruntál region is modifying the surroundings of the Concert Hall of the Holy Spirit for 8.7 million crowns, where a new public space is being created. It will serve as a background for the concert hall as well as a newly formed pedestrian connection between Sv. Ducha and Štursovy streets. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Krnov town hall, Dita Círová.

"The work on an area of 2300 m² mainly consists of building sidewalks, solid surfaces and walls, restoring part of the ramparts, and a section of the medieval cobbled sidewalk," Círová stated.

Marek Uličný from the company Grispa, which is in charge of the contract, mentioned that they are currently finishing the reconstruction of the historical stone wall, during which the builders are using the original stones from demolished old walls. "We are also preparing a new stone wall for a fence that will separate the garden of a family house from the newly created public space. Repair of the historical arch over the former waterway has also been completed, in which we repointed loose stones with heritage mortar and repaired the joints and the keystones," Uličný stated.

In the area where the oldest Krnov guild dye house used to be, builders are manually excavating. An archaeological survey conducted from 2014 to 2016 revealed a system of dyeing vats there. "Their foundations, including the drainage channel, will be outlined in the future walking surfaces," the spokesperson stated.

In the middle of the year, the company will install public lighting, benches, trash bins, bicycle racks, and information panels in the modified area. There will also be two bronze models of earlier buildings - from the year 1779 and from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. "The modification of the space will be completed with landscaping, which will include the establishment of new grassy areas, planting of trees and shrubs, and the creation of flower beds with perennials," Círová mentioned.
