Lanškroun – The project preparations for the construction of a biotope swimming pool and the renovation of the restaurant in Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region are nearing completion. The swimming pool is to be located by the Dlouhý pond, and the city will spend around 60 million crowns excluding VAT. The construction is likely to begin next year, the city announced in a press release.

The city initially worked on the preparations for the swimming pool. The pond itself is unsuitable for a biotope, as it receives polluted water from fields during rainfall. Therefore, builders will construct a dam that will separate the swimming pool from the pond. Clean water will be taken from two wells that are 30 and 50 meters deep.

Additionally, the city hall commissioned an architectural study for the renovation of the restaurant. This is the central building of the former Tereziina Baths with the city swimming pool from 1927. The renovations include creating a new terrace with public access and a separate area for swimming pool visitors.

"The renovation of the restaurant will primarily focus on the overall restoration of the interior. The engineering solution for the building also includes extending the smaller wing of the restaurant with an entryway before the entrances to the public restrooms. The new roofing of this wing will provide additional spaces on the second floor," said city architect Pavla Sommerschuh.

The study addresses a boat rental, facilities for mini-golf, and modifications to the entrance structure. The city plans to renovate these areas. Other changes are expected for the parking lot, which will be equipped with an automatic gate and will serve only the restaurant. Other parking spaces will be located in front of the main gate.

For the swimming pool, the city has obtained a building permit and the implementation documentation for flood protection measures, which include the construction of the dam. "Lanškroun will finally have a swimming pool with clean water. The goal is to create a pleasant environment for leisure, sports, and relaxation for visitors," said mayor Radim Vetchý (Lanškrounské fórum).
