Lanškroun – The town of Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region is preparing an extension of the senior citizens' home. It will offer an additional 30 beds. The town hall is responding to the growing needs for care for clients with Alzheimer's disease. Over half a million crowns have been approved for the study by the town hall. This will be the second document that the city is having processed. The author of the original building did not agree with the first one, as stated in the press release.
The first study was created in 2023, but an architect who designed the original building of the Social Services of Lanškroun contacted the city. He considered it a gross and insensitive infringement of his copyright. "Several discussions took place between the parties in an effort to resolve the matter amicably and secure the author's consent for the changes to the given building as per the processed study. Unfortunately, a mutual consensus between the parties was not achieved," said Petra Langrová, head of the legal and administrative department.
Therefore, the town decided to redo the study, reaching out to five architectural firms, three of which expressed interest; the city commission selected the firm Čtyřstěn. In addition to building the beds, the common areas where clients spend time should be expanded. To this end, the town hall aims to improve the facilities for staff, modernize technical spaces, such as the laundry. It also plans to make adjustments to the surrounding land. The extension should sensitively connect with the senior citizens' home and blend into the surrounding development.
Social Services in Lanškroun, which has a facility with a special regime, has 53 beds, with 25 beds in the senior citizens' home and five beds in the respite service. Home care workers can care for 50 clients daily.
