Nová Paka (Jičínsko) - Voters who head to the polling stations in Nová Paka in the Jičín region on Friday and Saturday will decide not only on the composition of the new regional leadership but also on the location of the transport terminal. CTK learned today from the town hall website. According to Mayor Josef Cogan, the results of the survey could be known by Monday.

"We consider the issue of the bus terminal location to be fundamental, and therefore we turn to the citizens to know their opinion," the town hall stated on its website. The city plans to build a terminal with 60 to 100 parking spaces for a maximum of 60 million crowns excluding VAT, provided that they receive a European grant. The city has approached 12 architectural offices, which presented eight proposals.

People can support the proposal from Loca Plan in the survey, which involves building the terminal on the site of the current bus station, or the proposal from the Mardou studio. This plan involves relocating the bus station to the parking area under the square. The third option is to maintain the current state.

The current bus station in Nová Paka has been in service for over a quarter of a century and does not provide adequate facilities for people; it also lacks parking spaces. "This state, which we are accustomed to, could last for many more years. Nevertheless, we believe that if we can reconstruct or newly build this transport hub of Novopacka for just a fraction of the actual costs, it is a great opportunity for the town and its citizens," the town hall stated.

Nová Paka has organized a survey multiple times alongside the elections; for example, in 2013, people in the survey held during the parliamentary elections supported the ban on door-to-door sales and also the modernization of the town's cultural center.
