Litomyšl – Litomyšl will sell the Klára villa, for which the city has no use and lacks funds for repairs, to the Kubík company. The company wants to turn the building into a boutique hotel Vila Klára. The councilors made their decision in a secret vote between two offers, with a majority leaning towards this project, the city hall stated in the municipal newsletter Lilie. The purchase price is eight million crowns.
The city announced a competition for the sale of the villa, where besides the price, planned usage, benefit to residents, and respect for the historical character of the location near the castle were important criteria. The AGM Holding company was also interested in the villa. In cooperation with the Školamyšl association, they wanted to create an education and social entrepreneurship center in the building, and their offered price was similar to that of the Kubík company. The Tramons company also applied, submitting a proposal to establish the Klára Health Clinic, but they announced some time ago that they were withdrawing from the competition.
The city wanted to sell the Klára villa already last year, but none of the proposals from the two investors gained support among the councilors. In the previous competition, the city hall set a uniform sale price of six million crowns, with the main criteria for selection being future use, benefit to residents, and respect for the historical character of the place.
Litomyšl acquired the building in 2020 for five million crowns from the Pardubice region. Until 2018, it housed a long-term care facility, but the building was in poor condition, and the regional government moved the facility to the Litomyšl hospital complex.
The villa, built in 1895, is in theNeo-Renaissance style, commissioned by brewer Karel Sedlák from Litomyšl. Since 1929, it was home to the St. Klára Home managed by the order of St. Charles Borromeo, which Sedlák donated to the association. From 1949, it was state property. The department for long-term patients had been there since 1974.
