Pardubice – The Pardubice region will sell the Klára villa in Litomyšl for five million crowns. The town of Litomyšl in the Svitavy region has long been striving to purchase the villa, having submitted its first proposal in 2014. As an owner, it wants to influence what will eventually be in it. Until last year, it served as a nursing home for long-term patients. The regional representatives approved the sale today.

The neo-Renaissance villa dates back to 1895. It was built for local brewer Karel Sedlák in Litomyšl. Since 1929, it has been the Home of Saint Klára, managed by the Order of Saint Charles Borromeo, which was gifted to them by Sedlák. After nationalization, it has been owned by the state since 1949, and the department for long-term patients has been in the villa since 1974.

Last year, the region relocated the nursing home to the Litomyšl hospital complex, where it renovated the internal pavilion for 34 million crowns. The regional government no longer needs the villa. "Patients enjoy incomparably higher comfort in the new environment," said Governor Martin Netolický.

Litomyšl will look for an investor to renovate and utilize the villa. Mayor Daniel Brýdl (Generace 89) previously stated that he would consider it suitable for a hotel or a senior home.
