Pribyslav - The titles of Building of the Year in the Vysočina Region for last year were awarded to six projects. The expert jury presented the awards to the New Town’s Home of Forget-Me-Nots, the apartment building on Mánesova Street in Humpolec, the new section of the Jihlava bypass, landscaping modifications near Olešenka, and also to two renovated historical buildings, the Jihlava Silver House and the Old Town Hall in Havlíčkův Brod. A total of 15 projects were submitted for the 23rd annual Vysočina Building Competition. The results were announced today in Pribyslav.

The aim of the competition is to recognize the best new constructions and renovations and to bring architecture and construction closer to a wider audience. People were also able to send SMS votes. Thanks to them, the public award was won by the apartment building in Humpolec.

The Home of Forget-Me-Nots in New Town na Moravě is designed for people suffering from dementia. The operator is the Diaconia of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in the Myslibořice Center. The jury appreciated the thoughtful operational solution of the building and the architectural style that creates a cozy atmosphere of a home environment.

The apartment building in Humpolec received the title for its harmonious and cohesive appearance with a sensitive integration into the surrounding development. The main architects were from the Humpolec firm OK Plan Architects led by Luděk Rýzner.

In the southern part of the southeastern bypass of Jihlava, the jury pointed out the challenging terrain in the route design. The new road measuring 2.4 kilometers connected the arterial routes to Znojmo and Třebíč.

The awarded set of measures near Olešenka in the Havlíčkův Brod area includes the creation of a water reservoir, field paths, and four infiltration trenches that retain rainwater. Their main goal was to prevent topsoil erosion and to maintain water in the landscape. According to the jurors, this is an exemplary modification of the area that leads to the restoration of the landscape character.

The titles of Building of the Year in Vysočina were also awarded to two historical houses that were restored by local governments. The building in Masaryk Square in Jihlava has been transformed into a facility with a predominance of space for culture and has been newly named the Silver House. The jury highlighted the combination of historical details and contemporary design, as well as the original concept of the attic.

In Havlíčkův Brod, the repairs of the Old Town Hall in the square were carried out in phases and were also completed last year; this building serves culture as well. The jurors appreciated its comprehensive and successfully completed renovation.

Seven competition projects received honorable mentions from the jury, and four buildings received individual awards from partners of the competition.

The competition is organized by the Vysočina Building Association in cooperation with the Union of Entrepreneurs in Construction, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians in Construction (ČKAIT), and the Vysočina Region.
