Ústí nad Labem - The architecturally awarded modern building of the Czech National Bank in the center of Ústí nad Labem is likely to end up in the hands of the state for now. The city has shown interest in a gratuitous transfer of the building, but the banking council has decided to collaborate with the Office for the Representation of the State in Property Matters on this issue. Dita Vejnárková from the CNB press department told ČTK.
According to Vejnárková, discussions are currently underway regarding the specific form of cooperation between the bank and the state office. This year, the bank has changed the format of its regional representation in several regional cities and is considering the option of completely abandoning some of its buildings.
In Ústí nad Labem, the transformation of the branch ended on July 2, according to Vejnárková. The number of employees decreased by 27. The cash and payment transactions section currently has 14 positions at the Ústí office, and five people work in the financial market supervision department. On the top floor of the building, there are several apartments, of which one is currently occupied according to Vejnárková.
The bank had the building constructed in the early 1990s in a postmodern style. The authors of the unusual building in the city center are architects Michal Gabriel and Miroslav Johanovský. The front of the building is adorned with a pendulum, which, however, has not moved for a long time. "In the case of the pendulum, it is a deeper structural problem, and this matter, like other operational issues, will be resolved after a decision on the future use and operation of the building," Vejnárková stated.
