Most will buy the department store Prior in the city center for 62 million crowns

Most - The city of Most will purchase the Prior department store for 62 million crowns. The reason is the planned revitalization of the center. The building is in poor condition and requires extensive reconstruction. The purchase was approved today by all 38 present councilors.

The city is preparing a complete renovation of the city center, where the department store is located. Its 47-year age is significantly evident, as water leaks into the building. The structure has undergone various modifications in the past, particularly the expansion of the basement. The repair costs will be in the hundreds of millions of crowns, said Mayor Marek Hrvol (ProMOST) to the councilors.

According to the mayor, a modern multiplex cinema could be established in the building, which is currently lacking in Most. The remaining part would serve commercial purposes and services. "We are in favor, a good price has emerged," stated opposition councilor Jiří Nedvěd (independent), who believes that the brutalist-style building has its place in the center. "After acquisition, we would commission a structural-technical survey to determine if the structures are in order," the mayor stated.

The subsequent architectural competition will determine the future appearance of Prior. The city leadership does not anticipate a fundamental change in its appearance. Hrvol urged those present to engage in discussions about the use and design of the building.
