Most – The Large Hall of the Most City Hall, used for council meetings, conferences, and ceremonies, has been renovated by the city. The space now features new carpets, televisions on the walls of the hall, a lectern, and additional equipment, and will be newly air-conditioned. However, all valuable elements, including the chandelier from 1977, have been preserved. Klára Vydrová, spokesperson for the city hall, informed CTK today. The renovation costs amounted to approximately five million crowns.
The proposal for the modifications of the meeting room was discussed just before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic by the councilors themselves, who raised several comments. After consultations with the city architect, experts from the public sector, and representatives of the building authority, the project was subsequently adjusted.
During the summer renovation, craftsmen replaced the hall's lighting, and specialists cleaned the chandelier. The sandstone wall cladding was also cleaned. The carpets in the hall, on the balcony, and in the foyer are new as well. New tables, chairs, televisions on the walls of the hall, and a lectern have been added. A new voting system, including wiring, will be installed, and work is ongoing for the installation of air conditioning. If there are no complications, councilors could meet in the renovated hall during their first meeting after the holidays, which will take place on September 21.
The urban planning working group recommended preserving the unique chandelier, the coffered ceiling, and part of the sandstone cladding. The equipment and decoration date back to the time of the building's construction in the late 1970s. Among the valued pieces is the chandelier, designed by artistic glassmaker René Roubíček, who was the guardian of designer Bořek Šípek.
