České Budějovice - A new multipurpose pavilion will be added to the grounds of the České Budějovice exhibition center. The new building, designated T, will be located north of pavilion Z, with which it will be connected. The construction of the new facility, costing nearly 188 million crowns, will increase the capacity of covered exhibition areas. The exhibition center will also be able to develop in the areas of cultural, social, and sporting activities. ČTK was informed about this by Naďa Schubertová from the company Výstaviště České Budějovice.
Demolition of existing structures and paved areas began in October, and engineering networks will also be relocated, and the construction site prepared. According to the design by the České Budějovice company Atelier 8000, the new facility should be completed by July next year. New paved areas and roads will also be created.
Events have been held at the exhibition grounds since 1960, when regional agricultural exhibitions were held there. Traditional events include the agricultural fair Země živitelka and the DIY and gardening exhibition Hobby. In 1994, the exhibition center was privatized.
In the early 1990s, the exhibition center held one exhibition event per year; last year, there were already 12. In addition, the grounds are used for other activities as part of the rental. In recent years, interest in using the renovated multipurpose pavilion Z for hosting balls, conferences, and cultural and corporate events has increased.
Last year, Výstaviště České Budějovice reported a profit of 15.4 million crowns. The financial result is, according to the company’s annual report, comparable to the years 2008 and 2007. Last year, the company invested 13.1 million crowns, for example, renovating the southern part of pavilion B1 and adding an entrance vestibule to pavilion Z.
