Kladno – A lookout is set to be built this year on the roof of the historic Kladno tower house, where the city opened a museum last year. The city has allocated funds in its budget and is currently preparing for its construction. Kladno councilor Petra Melčová (for ANO) said this to ČTK today. Eight million crowns have been allocated in the budget for the construction of the lookout. A tender for the contractor is now being prepared.

"It will be a complicated matter because it is a structure that will have to be lifted up to the roof," the councilor stated. It is likely that a crane or helicopter will need to be utilized since the components will be pre-assembled.

The city should also initiate the development of project documentation for the creation of a visitor center on the ground floor of the tower house this year. According to Melčová, a tender for its construction could be announced by the end of this year, and it could be completed next year.

The museum of heritage-protected tower houses, including a showcase apartment, started operating last year in the Kladno district of Rozdělov. It presents the story of the housing estate and its main architect, Josef Havlíček. There was a great interest in visits, but operations were significantly affected by measures related to the pandemic, just like in other museums.
