Prague - A new parking garage should be built in Prosek by the end of this year. It is to be constructed on the current parking lot by the Billa store. The construction will be financed by the municipal district of Prague 9, with a capacity of about 360 spaces. This was stated by deputy mayor Tomáš Portlík (ODS) to the ČTK. The city hall is currently waiting for the assessment of the environmental impact of the construction. The construction of the parking garage is intended to solve parking problems on Jablonecká and Vysočanská streets. "This is one of the key issues for us in terms of quiet parking," noted Portlík. According to him, the garage could be completed in half to three quarters of a year. The lower level would still be used by shoppers, while the remaining two to three floors would serve the residents of the surrounding streets or their visitors. "We anticipate that we would give parking cards to people on Jablonecká street, allowing them to park there several times a year for free," Portlík added. The city hall management hopes that the construction of one parking space would cost about 140,000 to 160,000 crowns. Therefore, according to Portlík, they are trying to find the most economical solution. For instance, the top floor will not be covered. Savings will also be made on the façade, with the more attractive side facing the Friendship Park. "We did everything we could to reduce the costs of the construction, so that one parking space does not exceed 200,000 crowns," said Portlík. The final price will be determined by a tender for a construction company. Residents in the area will likely need to pay for parking, with a monthly fee expected to be around 300 to 400 crowns, depending on the final construction costs.
