Ani Červený Kostelec will not miss out on the (Week) of Architecture this year. It is a globally widespread event that has set itself a challenging task - to attempt to bring architecture into the public consciousness. In the Czech Republic, the Prague civic association Kruh is behind its organization, having built a dense network of collaborators in all regions over four editions. The first weekend of October will see dozens of lectures, excursions, walks, or bike rides to significant buildings or newly completed projects accompanied by architects, historians, and theorists of architecture. In Kostelec, we have decided to continue the tradition begun in Náchod and in Police nad Metují. Boldly, we paraphrased the famous sigh of Josef Škvorecký and named the entire venture “Guide - for the beautiful town of Kostelec”. During the week-long workshop from September 29, 2014, to Sunday, October 5, 2014, together with students and teachers from the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec, we will attempt to view the town from a fresh perspective and come up with new ideas. Each participant will work on a selected assignment, trying to improve the public space with a minor architectural intervention, breathe new meaning into the designated place, and thereby enhance life in the town. During this week, we are preparing an excursion to interesting buildings complemented by commentary on the city's architectural development and urban planning (the date will be specified in due time). The resulting projects will be presented by students on a joint walk, which will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 2:00 PM, meeting in front of the town hall building. We look forward to seeing you.
