Cheb - The new leadership of Cheb wants to significantly reduce the costs for the reconstruction of the TJ Lokomotiva complex. They will complete the ongoing phase, in which a new artificial turf field is being built, but for the further phases, they want to find a cheaper solution, said the mayor of Cheb, Antonín Jalovec (VPM-ALTERNATIVA), to ČTK.

"The original study from 2014 was very ambitious and divided the entire reconstruction into several phases. The original intention also included the construction of a new grandstand, the renovation of the bowling alley including an increase in the number of lanes, there was also a renovation of the hall including the expansion of food services, and there was a renovation of the building at Na Hraběcím. So the total amount approached 250 million korunas," stated Jalovec.

Currently, a contractor is working on a new artificial turf field at the stadium for 27.1 million korunas. According to Jalovec, the necessary changing rooms for athletes could temporarily be created just by modifying the dormitory at Na Hraběcím, and only in the future could a hall with new changing rooms be added.

According to Jalovec, the former leadership provided inadequate information to the councilors and promised grants that the city ultimately did not receive. For this reason, the whole project should be revised according to the actual needs of the athletes and the possibilities of the city.
