According to the vice-chairman of the board Libor Šťástka (ODS), there is interest in the machine building of the former Vaňkovka factory from, for example, the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
Brno - The future of the Wannieck Gallery, which operates the largest contemporary art gallery in Brno, will still be discussed. The company South Center does not want people and organizers to lose the money they invested in organizing and purchasing tickets for scheduled events. The South Center terminated the gallery's lease last week due to non-payment of rent. The director of the company, Jan Zavřel, informed ČTK about the development of the case today. According to him, it is possible that the contract could be renewed for a certain period. Negotiations between the South Center and the Wannieck Gallery will take place on Tuesday morning.

The city company South Center terminated the lease of the Wannieck Gallery due to non-payment of rent of 150,000 crowns per month. The gallery owed 500,000 crowns but paid it after receiving the termination and requested its withdrawal. The director of the South Center said on Friday that he remained firm on the termination, but has now changed his opinion. "We want to complete the things that are in progress. Since Friday, when the termination of the Wannieck Gallery lease was publicized, we have been receiving calls from organizers asking what will happen with their events that they have already invested money in," Zavřel said.
The representative of the Wannieck Gallery operator and donor, Miroslav Lekeš, stated on Friday that the gallery arranges artists and exhibitions a year or two in advance. The gallery was originally supposed to vacate by March 10, but according to its representatives, this is unrealistic given the extent of the collection.
According to the vice-chairman of the South Center Libor Šťástka (ODS), it is possible that the Wannieck Gallery will obtain a fixed-term lease so that the gallery space is not empty. "We have tasked the management of the South Center with resolving the relationships. However, it is also possible that it will not succeed. I want to say right now that we do not intend to use the building for anything other than cultural purposes," said Šťástka. "I can now imagine some short-term contract with the Wannieck Gallery to avoid any further excesses," the vice-chairman stated. Interest in the building of the former machine shop of the Vaňkovka factory is, according to him, for example, from the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
The reconstructed space of the 19th-century hall, where the Wannieck Gallery is located, has more than 3,000 square meters. For example, there is an exhibition of veterans from the Kupka studio scheduled here on March 15. The South Center promised that the exhibition would take place.
