Pardubice - More buyers are interested in Gočár's mills. Negotiations for the sale of this significant monument may last another six months. Jiří Charvát, vice-chairman of the board of Good Mills, said this today to ČTK. The mills ceased operations permanently last spring. "There are three to four interested parties, depending on the seriousness of their interest. Until a contract is finalized, we will not present potential buyers. I see it as taking at least another six months," Charvát said. The owner of the mills initially offered the properties to the municipality. The town hall has been negotiating for several months about the potential purchase of this strategic site in the city center. They commissioned studies and assessments to clarify the optimal city's share in transforming the site, which should also serve the public. According to the first offer, the mills were available for 40 million crowns. However, Charvát did not want to comment on the development of the sale price. The town hall requested an estimate, which reduced the price of the site to 17 million crowns. "We are still negotiating with the city, and its potential participation could be part of the conditions set by some of the interested parties," Charvát said. The area is quite extensive. Automatic turbine mills were built between 1910 and 1925 for brothers Egon and Karl Winternitz. The structure with the silo is derived from Anglo-Saxon tradition and is characterized by brickwork made of dark and light bricks. During the First Republic, the building was connected by a stone archway, and some parts were adorned with an attic that resembles castle battlements. In the 1960s, a four-story extension was added to the left wing, which attempts to respect the original building. There are other structures on the site that do not fit into the architectural concept anymore. According to some experts, the site has its disadvantages. It is located by the riverbank near the historic center and is poorly accessible by transport. For example, if apartments were to be built there, residents might be disturbed by the bakery next door, which operates both at night and during the day.
