Pardubice - The owner of the automatic mills in Pardubice is also negotiating with another potential buyer for this heritage-protected area. The GoodMills company was the first to offer it for 40 million crowns to the city, which has not yet made a decision on the offer after several months. Jiří Charvát, the vice-chairman of the company's board, told ČTK. "We waited until September, and at this point, we have started our own branch to search for a partner in case the city backs off," Charvát said. The city council did not decide on the purchase in September and had an appraisal prepared by December, which lowered the price of the area to 17 million crowns. However, Charvát did not want to speculate on a possible discount. The city leadership is also looking for a strategic partner and wants to specify the optimal share of the city in transforming the area, which would serve the public interest. The councilors also tasked the main architect's department to prepare regulations for developing the mills area. GoodMills declares that it cares about what will eventually happen in the area designed by architect Josef Gočár. The buildings have historical value, which should culturally thrive, and the company would be sorry if there were an industrial site there one day, Charvát stated. "But we are also an economic entity; economic considerations are a priority for us. A solution in which the city would participate would suit us best from the perspective of civic responsibility for that location," Charvát said. The city council has an architectural feasibility study at its disposal, which combines commercial and cultural projects. The councilors also further tasked the association Mills to the city, which is a group of people from the fields of architecture and culture, to continue planning the possible use of the heritage site. The association organized several cultural events there last year. In the mills, which were built between 1910 and 1925, production definitively ended last spring. Gočár designed them according to Anglo-Saxon architecture, the buildings have exposed brickwork made of dark and light bricks.
