The Association of Architects will announce awards for the best domestic buildings today

Prague - The Association of Architects will announce this year's winners of the Grand Prix of Architects this evening, awarded for the best domestic architectural achievements. However, there will be no traditional ceremony for handing out the awards; the organizers have pre-recorded meetings with the individual participants and laureates separately and in advance, and they will be broadcasting it on the internet today, which can be followed on the Facebook page of the Association of Architects.
Foreign jury members could not come to the Czech Republic either. This year's jury comprised Pritzker Prize recipient Christian de Portzamparc from France, Peka Salminen from Finland, Fokke Moerel from the Netherlands, Tanja Buijs Vitkova from Slovakia, living in Rotterdam, and Czech curator and historian Dan Merta.
A total of 50 buildings are nominated for the Grand Prix of Architects - National Prize for Architecture 2020, selected by the jury from the submitted projects. In addition to the main award, there will also be an award for lifetime achievement and awards in individual categories: Reconstruction, Family House, Interior Design, Urbanism, Landscape, Sustainable Building.
Among the nominated projects are the revitalization of the Prague waterfronts, the Jan Palach Memorial in Všetaty, the Museum of Climbing in Turnov, which received the Gloria musaealis award for the best museum achievement of the past year on Tuesday, a mobile hut or Aranka lodge, the reconstruction of the national cultural monument Špilberk, the Social Services House in Pacov, and several viewpoints and bus stops.
