Prague - The reconstruction of Elsnicovo Square in Prague 8 could take place in 2018. CTK was informed by the mayor of Prague 8, Roman Petrus. Alongside the square, which is not far from Palmovka, the tram track and the Rokytka riverbed should also be repaired. The city council has been planning the square's renovation for several years, but it has not yet been realized. In addition to Elsnicovo Square, Prague 8 also wants to renovate the area near the metro station C Ládví.

"We are preparing the renovation of the square, but the realization is pushed to 2018. This year, a long-planned reconstruction of tram tracks, including the reconstruction of the bridge over the Rokytka, is scheduled,"
said Petrus.

The city council postponed the square's renovation precisely because of the mentioned tram track repair. "It would probably be very strange if we were to carry out our modifications now and then in 2018 there would be another one in the same place. Money would be wasted unnecessarily," said Petrus.

According to the city council's plan, alongside the renovation of the square, the slabs covering the Rokytka riverbed should also be removed. This area is to be opened anew.

The Prague 8 council also plans a complete reconstruction of the square by the metro station C Ládví. The first phase of the work could start next year. A new pavement will be laid in the square, benches, bins, and greenery will be added. According to the plan, a marketplace should also be created. The total costs are estimated by the council to be around 30 million CZK, and the work will be completed in 2018.
